Medical recruiters National Locums were last night (Thursday, 10 March) named Milton Keynes Business of the Year, and made it a win double by also collecting the Professional Practice award.
The Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards are the city’s annual business ‘Oscars’, and attracted a packed audience to Stadium MK.
The citation for Business of the Year, selected from the winners of the award scheme’s 13 categories, stated that it was the “highest accolade any business in Milton Keynes can achieve….the winner will have demonstrated consistent best practice in business at the highest level.”
National Locums, which supplies medical professionals to the NHS and independent hospitals throughout the UK, were also shortlisted in the Private Business category.
After collecting the trophies, National Locums managing director David Cook said: “It is a recognition of our commitment to excellence in everything we do, and our ability to help hospital clients meet their staffing needs at a time when NHS budgets are under enormous pressure.
“It’s a terrific achievement for the whole team, who are recruited almost exclusively from the Milton Keynes area, particularly as we were up against some of the most successful businesses in the region.”
The judges, who included entrepreneur Sir John Southby, Open University CEO Steve Hill and John Corby of Barclays Corporate, were impressed by National Locums’ strong financial growth; the launch of two new divisions, for nursing and allied healthcare professionals, in the past year; and investment plans which include launching operations in Australia.
